Michigan State University (MSU) is home to one of the largest library comics collections in North America, holding over three hundred thousand print comic book titles and artifacts. Inspired by interdisciplinary opportunity offered digital humanities practice, a research collaborative linked MSU Library Digital Scholarship Lab (DSL) developed Collections as Data project focused on Comic Art Collection. This team extracted cleaned forty-five MARC records describing published Canada, Mexico, United States. The dataset openly available through GitLab repository, where has shared data visualizations so that scholars members public can explore interrogate this unique collection. In order bridge with popular culture legacy ofthe institution, community turned bibliographic metadata new way leverage collection for scholarly analysis. October 2020, Department English Graphic Possibilities Research Workshop gathered group scholars, librarians, Wikidatians, enthusiasts virtual Wikidata edit-a-thon. report will present event case study discuss how open may be used create knowledge can, turn, enrich metadata.
